How LEVEL™ Works

To Open - The keyboard platform starts the LEVEL™ panel from its horizontal resting position. An initial manual pulling motion works on lateral pivots located inside a steel flanged trim ring mounted in the desktop. A 2" movement of the keyboard platform begins to actuate a pressure cylinder.

After the keyboard platform rotates the LEVEL™ panel past its resting position it automatically (under constant pressure) opens up and back to a 110 degree viewing angle. It reaches a position located 30 degrees below a horizontal plane in a semi-recessed position. This position insures a 22" to 28" arc distance from the user beneath a horizontal line of sight. The LCD display, attached to the bottom of the LEVEL™ panel rotates up and back to expose itself. Any VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) compliant LCD can mount to the system.

Additional adjustment can be made to the angle of the LCD face by a quick release friction mounted VESA bracket. The bracket moves in a 20-degree forward and backward motion (10 degrees positive/negative) from the 110-degree plane. This may be used for fine adjustment of the viewing angle or to reduce any ambient reflection (glare) experienced by the user from the surface of the monitor plane.

Keyboard: The keyboard only serves to start the process of pivot rotation until the pressure cylinder takes over. Once the LEVEL™ mechanism is open, the keyboard can be pushed back under the top without affecting the monitor location. The keyboard is independent of the closing process.

To Close - Pull the LEVEL™ panel down toward the keyboard. The same pressure which was used to open the mechanism (unassisted) is now used as back pressure to prevent slamming. It insures smooth resistance until about 1" above horizontal. The panel then coasts down against a foam pad on a steel stop flange.
